Week 3 — “Runsploring” Mendocino

Whenever Mark and I arrive in a new city, the first thing we do is “runsplore” the area.

When we arrived in Mendocino, California we couldn’t wait to lace up our running shoes and head out the door to explore the Pacific Coast trails. We started the run from downtown Mendocino with a vague plan in place and Google Maps in hand. We continued around the beautiful bluffs and took photos of the ocean, cliffs, and each other. It was one of the most beautiful runs I’ve been on, and reminded us a lot of Portugal where we had our honeymoon. We ended up doing 10 miles before our vegan breakfast feast (yes, “only” 10 miles since last week was such a big week!).

We spent the rest of the weekend indulging in gourmet vegan meals, watching the sunset, doing yoga, and truly getting the relaxation and rest time that we were both craving.

If you ever find yourself in the Mendocino area, you have to check out the Stanford Inn for an amazing vegan meal, a cooking class, yoga, or a spa session. We were also happy to meet and get to know Joan and Jeff Stanford, the owners of the Inn. They were so gracious to us, and told us about the history of the Inn. They had to make a tough call a few years ago to change the Ravens Restaurant from vegetarian to 100% vegan. We think they made the right call! Everything was delicious.

All-in-all, a fantastic weekend in “vegan heaven” while still getting some 50K training in. Thank you all for the donations and support so far.
xo,
Carolyn
