Week 1 – Ok, I’m Sore

Mark asked me, “Why are you walking like a penguin today?”. My quads are burning, my legs are sore, and stairs are most definitely not my friend. As a result, I hobble around like a penguin!

So, what happened?

Well, on Saturday I went out for a 13+ mile trail run with 2,000+ ft of elevation gain with my Golden Gate Triathlon Club trail running group. I’ve been running consistently, but my body wasn’t quite ready for the long uphill climbs and steep downhills that are prominent in the Marin Headlands.

And as if that wasn’t enough for one day, I went to a fitness festival that afternoon with Tone It Upthat included a yoga session, a workout from Jillian Michaels (she is HILARIOUS), and Karena and Katrina (#girlcrush). We did squats, booty workouts, leg raises, jumping jacks, planks, and all kinds of bodyweight exercises. It felt great in the moment, but the next day I could barely move! haha

I’m hoping that next weekend will be better and my body will better adapt to the up-and-down nature of trail running.

Until then, you can just call me penguin. 🙂
